Advanced Basic Materials Committee

Formerly the Advanced Basic Materials Application Research Center, the committee was renamed in 2025 and continues its materials research and exchange programme.

It focuses on copper alloys, conductive and insulating materials, engineering plastics, plating and surface treatment in contacts, terminals and housings, linking material capability with application demand.

Its public content lives on the WeChat Channels account “连接器材料圈”; this site keeps the archive, files and contact points.

Milestones

  1. 2015

Advanced basic materials research begins with connector, cable assembly, equipment and material manufacturers.

  2. 2017

Work on an electronic interconnection industrial park explores coordination between materials and manufacturing.

  3. 2018

Contributing to connector IP work and publishing patent early-warning content for NEV connectors.

  4. 2022

Group standard work begins, turning material experience into clauses.

  5. 2024

Group standards including automotive camera module connectors expand coverage.

  6. 2025

Renamed the Advanced Basic Materials Committee, with the channel as the main outlet and the site as archive and index.

What the committee works on

Contact the committee

Materials research

Trend briefings and technical sharing on high-conductivity copper alloys, stress relaxation and contact reliability.

Cross-industry matching

Bringing material suppliers together with connector and device makers so requirements and samples match.

Standards and research

Contributing to group standards and industrial research, turning experience into reusable methods.

Exchange and visits

Forums, company visits and testing-lab exchanges, so discussion happens on real lines.

Recent work and exchanges

New materials forum and technical sharing

Sessions on high-performance copper alloys in connectors, discussing the balance of conductivity, strength and formability.

Visits to device makers and test labs

Member visits to vehicle, component and testing organisations to exchange views on material validation for high-speed and low-voltage connectors.

Online sessions on materials

Failure cases as the thread, explaining plating, stress relaxation and contact resistance; replays on the channel.

Standards and industrial research

Contributing to group standards for automotive connectors and humanoid robot harness assemblies, turning experience into workable clauses.
